Main responsibilities Answer approximately 20–30 customer calls each day. Monitor and respond to customer emails and eBay messages. Understand customer requirements and prepare accurate quotations. Follow up quotations and encourage customers to place orders. Process and update orders using Woo Commerce and Windows-based systems. Check customer notes and communicate special instructions clearly to operations. Resolve routine product, order, delivery and service queries.
Keep customers informed about order progress and deliveries. Maintain accurate records of quotations, follow-ups and outcomes. Work closely with the warehouse operations supervisor. Assist with order paperwork and label processing when cover is required. Develop strong knowledge of the company’s steel products and services. Essential requirements Previous sales administration, customer service or order-processing experience. Experience preparing quotations and handling customer enquiries.
A confident and professional telephone manner. Strong written communication and numerical accuracy. Comfortable using Windows-based computer systems. Able to manage calls, messages, quotations and orders without losing track of priorities. Confident following up quotations and asking customers for the order. Reliable, organised and calm in a busy working environment. Desirable experience Steel stockholding, metals, engineering, construction products or industrial supplies.
Woo Commerce or another online order-management system. eBay business messages or other online marketplaces. B2B sales, sales support or account-management experience. Salary and commission The basic salary is £28,000–£31,000 per year, depending on relevant experience. Following the initial training period, the position includes: A performance-related commission scheme is available following the initial training period. Full details will be explained during the interview process and confirmed in writing before an offer is accepted.
Full commission terms will be explained before an offer is accepted. Working arrangements Full-time, permanent position. Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm. One hour of unpaid breaks each day. Fully on-site at Birmingham B18 7AD
. Start date as soon as possible. What we are looking for We want someone who takes ownership of customer enquiries and follows matters through to completion. The successful candidate will be helpful and professional with customers while remaining commercially focused. Selected applicants will complete a short telephone screening followed by an in-person interview and a practical quotation exercise.
