Job overview:

We have exciting, permanent opportunities for Claims Handlers in Birmingham. As part of a busy team, you’ll manage claims, review reports for payment and make decisions. This role doesn’t involve taking inbound customer telephone calls, but you will make some outbound telephone calls. You don’t need previous experience in insurance. We’ll train you on our systems and processes.

Key responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of claims, review reports and make informed decisions.
  • Update systems accurately with latest information.
  • Communicate decisions to relevant parties, ensuring transparency and understanding.
  • Prioritise tasks to effectively manage your caseload.
  • Identify potential fraud and refer suspicious claims for investigation.
  • Ensure fair treatment of customers.
Work arrangements:

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events.

Working hours & shift pattern:

You’ll work full time, 37.5 hours per week over 5 days, between the hours of 9am and 5pm. Our team work Monday to Friday.

Induction & training:

Induction Date:
Monday 14 September.

You’ll receive a comprehensive onsite induction to set you up for success in your new role. The first 6 weeks of your training will be delivered at our Birmingham office with one of our specialist trainers. The remaining 8 weeks of training will be a mixture of office based and virtual sessions. Once you demonstrate competency in your role, you’ll then transition to a hybrid working model spending the majority of your time at our Birmingham office.

skills & experience:
  • Customer service experience in any sector.
  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ownership.
  • Organised with prioritisation, multitasking and time management skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, with ability to learn new systems and processes.
  • Great listening skills and confident in making outbound telephone calls.
  • Able to approach and solve problems with a positive attitude.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
