Job Overview

To work flexibly within a dental team providing high quality care to a wide spectrum of patients across localities within the integrated Dental Service BDH, CDS and mobile clinics and/or additional external sites as required to be the conduit for service-wide communication for certain specialities or a locality. This includes attendance at meetings on behalf of the Dental Matron.

Responsible for the ordering of equipment and stock ensuring efficient control of levels within one locality or certain specialities by vetting all orders and maintaining commitment accounting system. Support the Clinical Leads, Divisional Director of Nursing and Therapies, Heads of Service and Dental Matron in the financial management of the service.

Participate in the management and improvement of an integrated Dental Service to include the development of policies and protocols as appropriate.

Manage Dental Nurses and support staff at all grades including staff appraisal and development and identification of training needs. Co-ordinate post qualification training of Dental support staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and empower all members of your team to perform to high standards and innovate.
  • Ensure supportive staff management arrangements are in place and carry out appraisals/personal development reviews (PDR's) for direct reports. Ensure all staff in your team/s have annual PDR's resulting in specific objectives and effective personal development plans.
  • Develop staff knowledge and skills to promote equality and diversity and address inequalities both in employment and service delivery. Ensure specific equality objective are included in PDR's.
  • Develop a working culture that ensures Health and Wellbeing and promotes a ‘Great Place to Work’ and Learning for staff.

    In accordance with UK Home Office requirements, Band 2 clinical and non-clinical roles and Band 3 Non-Clinical roles are not eligible for sponsorship.

    All non-clinical roles (Agenda for Change Bands 7 –
    9) that meet the prescribed skill level (RQF
