Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service and manage patients with complex dental, social and medical needs. Stock control/rotation and the ordering of dental consumables as required from appropriate suppliers. Prepare and maintain specialised dental equipment and dispose of clinical waste including bodily fluids. Support recording of patient pre-operative assessments (e.g., height, weight and blood pressure).
Carry out any other duties relevant to this role specified by the Dental Nurse Manager.
Identify relevant staff & students who require additional training within the specialty & elevate as appropriate.
Support the School of Dental Nursing, University of Birmingham, School of Hygiene and Therapy and relevant Heads of Service to provide team training for all disciplines.
Adhere to procedures to support and maintain achieving national targets of compliance. Ensure the implementation of agreed, local Divisional and Trust policies. Implement outcomes in respect of Clinical Governance & Quality Improvement relating to the specialty.

Working days:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday.
The post‑holder must hold a Dental Sedation Certificate (IV and IHS), be up to date with sedation training and supply a copy of their CPD log relating to their sedation specialism. The post‑holder must be flexible as travel to other sites/locations within the division may be required.
The post‑holder will support the clinical management of the dental specialty and ensure the provision of a high standard of patient care and that all Trust policies and procedures are adhered to.
Responsibilities- Provide high‑quality clinical nursing support across the Dental Services Division clinical sites.
- Deliver care to patients with complex dental, social and medical needs.
- Maintain stock control, rotate and order dental consumables from appropriate suppliers.
- Prepare and maintain specialised dental equipment.
- Dispose of clinical waste including bodily fluids.
- Support recording of patient pre‑operative assessments (height, weight, blood pressure).
- Carry out duties specified by the Dental Nurse Manager.
- Identify staff and students requiring additional training, and facilitate escalation.
- Assist in providing team training for all disciplines in partnership with the School of Dental Nursing.
- Adhere to national compliance targets and implement local Divisional and Trust policies.
- Support Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement activities related to the specialty.
- Band 5 qualification level.
- Dental Sedation Certificate (IV and IHS).
- Up‑to‑date sedation training and current CPD log for sedation specialism.
- Experience working in a dental nursing role with complex patient needs (preferred).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
