Your Role

Gensler’s Birmingham Studio is seeking a Project Architect to join our growing team in the UK and Europe, specialising in the Retail & Lifestyle sector. The Project Architect will lead the team through all phases of project design and delivery, serving as the primary client contact and managing the technical process across multiple projects.

What You Will Do
  • Design and deliver Lifestyle, Retail and Hospitality architecture projects.
  • Maintain client relationships, identifying opportunities for further business.
  • Prepare and review proposals, contracts, and consultant agreements.
  • Manage the full project lifecycle: estimating, bidding, kick‑off, coordination, punch list, turnover, and close‑out.
  • Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex design challenges.
  • Maintain project manuals, specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Conduct site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFIs during construction.
  • Coordinate with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, civil and other consultants.
  • Support new business development and contribute to studio reports and staffing meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Design Director and marketing team to document the project story and arrange photography/videography.
Your Qualifications
  • RIBA or ARB registered Architect, preferably with experience in Lifestyle/Hospitality/Retail.
  • Experience in project leadership, client liaison and team management.
  • Full lifecycle project experience, from concept to delivery.
  • Knowledge of UK building regulations, standards and building structures.
  • Proficiency in Revit desirable.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, communication and relationship‑management skills.
  • High design competence and understanding of building codes.
