Locum Consultant in Emergency Medicine

The closing date is 21 January 2026

We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and high-calibre Locum Consultants in Emergency Medicine to join one of the largest and busiest Emergency Departments in the UK. The ED provides care to a diverse and high-acuity patient population and operates as part of a major tertiary centre, including Major Trauma Centre responsibilities. Effective management of clinical risk, patient flow and operational pressure is a key priority, and the post holder will play a central role in providing visible senior clinical leadership on the shop floor, supporting safe, timely and high-quality patient care.

The successful applicant will work as part of a well-established and supportive team, contributing to consultant delivered care, supervision of trainees and advanced practitioners, and the ongoing development of Emergency Medicine services. The department is supported by a broad multidisciplinary workforce and comprises resuscitation facilities, rapid assessment and triage areas, majors and minors areas, and is preparing for the introduction of a new UTC from April 2026, incorporating ambulatory care, minor illness and injury pathways, and a GP service.

This post is offered as a fixed term Locum appointment for an initial 12 months. Applicants must hold full GMC registration, be on the GMC Specialist Register for Emergency Medicine or be within 6 months of achieving CCT at the time of interview. The post would suit both newly appointed and established consultants.
