This is a general Dermatology Consultant post with scope to develop a specialist interest. The role is primarily outpatient‑based with opportunities for minor surgery. The successful candidate will play a key role in clinical supervision of registrars, junior doctors, and the wider multidisciplinary team.

You’ll contribute to the quality and safety of the service through active involvement in clinical governance, audit, and incident reporting. A commitment to professional development is essential, with expectations to participate in teaching, appraisal, and research. This post includes dedicated time to support commercial research trials, offering an exciting opportunity for those with an interest in clinical research.

Day to day care of Dermatology patients in an outpatient setting and providing in‑hours on call cover to patients with urgent dermatological problems on the inpatient wards.

One 9 PA Vacancy:
Full‑time working in a 5 days per week pattern, on a fixed term basis.

Departmental Facilities and Workload

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic post CCT/CESR Consultant Dermatologist or final year Specialty Registrar coming towards the end of their training to an exciting opportunity to join a well‑established team in Brighton. This post is aimed at a general Dermatologist with an opportunity to develop a special area of interest. University Hospitals Sussex Dermatology East covers Brighton General Hospital (BGH), Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) and Royal Alexandra Childrens Hospital (RACH) but is predominantly based at Brighton General Hospital.

The main unit has dedicated facilities, which include operating theatres, treatment rooms, a phototherapy unit and consultation suites, and functions as a central hub for clinical, academic, and postgraduate activities. There are weekly multi‑disciplinary skin cancer meetings. Outpatient services are also provided to other local hospitals including Lewes Victoria Hospital, Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath and the Royal Alexandra Childrens Hospital in Brighton.

We have our own dedicated booking, administration and secretarial teams that run on the Brighton General site. We have used an Electronic Patient Record since 2015 and are almost fully paperless. Our service has embraced new ways of working to the benefit of our patients and our staff.
