Salaried General Practitioner (1-2 sessions per week)
Garretts Green Lane Surgery is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Salaried General Practitioner to join our friendly and supportive team.
We are offering a fixed-term post until 31 March 2027
, funded through an NHS programme, with the possibility of extension subject to future funding.
We are looking for a GP to work one or two clinical sessions per week
. Our preferred sessions are Tuesday afternoons and/or Thursday afternoons (14:00-18:10); however, we are happy to discuss alternative days with the right candidate.
This is an excellent opportunity for a portfolio GP or an experienced GP looking for additional regular sessions within a supportive practice.
Main duties of the jobAbout the Role
This is primarily a Duty GP session. The successful applicant will provide same-day urgent care, support the reception team with clinical queries and manage acute presentations during the session.
Our practice operates a telephone-first triage system, with patients being converted to face-to-face appointments where clinically appropriate. The successful applicant should therefore be confident managing telephone consultations as well as face-to-face assessments.
Duties
The successful applicant will:
Undertake telephone triage and face-to-face consultations.
Act as the Duty GP during the contracted session.
Manage urgent same-day presentations.
Provide clinical advice and support to reception and administrative staff.
Assess and manage medical emergencies presenting to the Practice.
Undertake clinical triage and urgent decision-making.
Review pathology results and clinical correspondence arising from consultations.
Identify and complete QOF opportunities during consultations.
Arrange appropriate follow-up appointments, investigations and recalls.
Ensure accurate clinical coding and documentation.
Participate in practice meetings, significant event reviews and clinical governance activities where appropriate.

Person Specification Qualifications- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- Included on the NHS England GP Performers List.
- MRCGP (or equivalent).
- Previous experience working as an NHS General Practitioner.
- Previous experience managing Duty Doctor or urgent same-day care sessions within UK General Practice.
- Confident in independently assessing and managing acute presentations.
- Excellent communication and consultation skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to the wider multidisciplinary team.
