We are currently seeking Lecturers to teach across a range of undergraduate levels as part of our BSc (Hons) Computing programme. Due to our delivery model, flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and weekends is required. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
What you will be doingAs a Lecturer in Computing, you will deliver modules focused on Technology, Software, and Data. You will develop comprehensive course materials covering database systems, internet technologies, data, cyber security, networking, and business information systems. You will undertake all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment of students and stay up to date with the latest developments in your field and student support practices.
Responsibilities- Plan, deliver, and assess student work, ensuring that all learning outcomes are met.
- Develop, update, and improve course materials as appropriate.
- Use a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials.
- Engage actively in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings and other administrative duties.
- Keep up to date with the latest developments in your field and student support practices.
- Work towards clearly defined objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction and progression.
- Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable).
- Have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of two or more of the following areas:
Programming and software development, Web development, Database systems, Cloud computing, Networking, Cybersecurity, IoT and emerging technologies, Business IT systems, IT management, AI and Machine Learning, Operating Systems, UI/UX. - Have experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback.
- Maintain accurate reporting and thorough student records.
- Can work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines.
- Have excellent communication, interpersonal and team‑working skills.
- Can work with diverse groups of people.
- Hold a Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or be committed to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent).
- Have experience designing/developing academic or professional education programmes or equivalent.
- 25 days annual leave, plus 8 public holidays.
- 1 extra day leave per year of service, up to a maximum of 5 days.
