Lecturer in Management – Birmingham

Join GBS, an academic partner of Bath Spa University, to teach across undergraduate levels for the BSc (Hons) Construction Management or BSc (Hons) Project Management programmes.

Department: Academic/Bath Spa University partnership (BSU)

Location: Birmingham (On‑site)

Salary: £51,000

Contract type: Full‑time, permanent (40 hours per week)

The role

We are seeking Lecturers to teach across a range of undergraduate levels as part of the BSc (Hons) Construction Management or BSc (Hons) Project Management programmes. Due to our delivery model, we require flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and at weekends.
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

What you'll be doing

As a Lecturer in Management at Global Banking School, you will deliver management related modules in the above areas within the context of either Construction Management or Project Management. You will develop and deliver comprehensive course materials, undertake all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment of students, and keep up to date with latest developments in your field and student support practices.

Responsibilities
  • All aspects of planning, delivering, and assessing student work, ensuring that all learning outcomes are met.
  • Developing, updating and improving course materials as appropriate.
  • Using a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials.
  • Actively engaging in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings and other administrative duties.
  • Understanding and keeping up to date with latest developments in your field and student support practices.
  • Working towards a range of clearly defined objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction and student progression.
About you
  • Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable).
  • Have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of relevant subject matter.
  • Experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback.
  • Experience of accurate reporting and ability to maintain thorough and organised student records.
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team‑working skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Desirable
  • Hold a Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification, or commit to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years, or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent).
  • Have experience of design/development of academic or professional education programmes or equivalent.
