Year Group Coordinator Specification
We are seeking an experienced and resilient Year Group Coordinator to join the pastoral team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave until the end of the academic year.
This is a challenging but rewarding role within a demanding secondary school environment and is best suited to candidates with substantial experience in pastoral care and behaviour management. The successful candidate must be confident working with students who present behavioural challenges and be able to remain calm, consistent, and professional at all times.
Requirements
Significant experience in pastoral support and behaviour management within a secondary school
Proven ability to support students with complex behavioural and emotional needs
Strong resilience and confidence working in a high-challenge school environment
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students and staff
Experience supporting safeguarding, attendance, and behaviour systems
Willingness and confidence to complete administrative tasks linked to the role
Flexible, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a pastoral team
The Role:
As Year Group Coordinator, you will:
Provide consistent pastoral and behaviour support to a designated year group
Manage and respond to behaviour incidents in line with school policies
Support attendance, punctuality, and student wellbeing
Work closely with teaching staff, senior leaders, and parents to support students
Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports related to behaviour and pastoral matters
Play an active role in safeguarding and student support processes
