Job Overview

Homefield Preparatory School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Temporary Teacher of Music to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire boys from 3 - 11 year of age through the appreciation and practice of music, fostering their creative development in a supportive learning environment. The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons, promote musical exploration, and contribute positively to the school's vibrant cultural life.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging music lessons tailored to students' age groups and abilities, ensuring alignment with curriculum standards
  • Foster a stimulating environment that encourages musical exploration, creativity, and confidence among pupils
  • Assess students’ progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to support their development
  • Organise and supervise practical activities such as rehearsals, performances, and individual or group practice sessions
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate music into broader school projects and events
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and assessment outcomes
  • Promote positive behaviour and create an inclusive atmosphere that celebrates diverse musical interests and backgrounds
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in teaching music at primary or secondary level is highly desirable
  • Formal qualification in Music or Music Education (e.g., PGCE with specialisation in Music) or equivalent recognised certification
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan engaging lessons that cater to varying student needs
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of inspiring and motivating students of all ages
  • Knowledge of a range of musical genres, instruments, and teaching methodologies
  • Ability to work flexibly within a dynamic school environment and adapt lesson plans as necessary
  • A passion for music education coupled with a commitment to fostering a positive learning atmosphere
