Overview
The Levels School is an Independent Specialist Day School offering high quality education and exemplary pastoral care to students with complex learning differences, including speech, language and communication needs. The school supports learners with dyslexia and other Speech and Language Communication difficulties, who may experience challenges with working memory, executive function and speed of processing. The school aims to support vulnerable learners who may have anxiety or fatigue and may have been out of school due to anxiety.
An opportunity has arisen for a teacher of English at The Levels School, full-time from September 2026 (earlier start can be accommodated for the right candidate). An ability to offer another subject is desirable.
ResponsibilitiesMain Responsibilities: The successful candidate will need to be motivated and enthusiastic. You will be joining a committed and dedicated team that have high expectations for students and work hard to ensure they achieve their maximum outcomes.
We are seeking a highly skilled, dedicated teacher to teach English at The Levels School full-time from September 2026 (earlier start can be accommodated for the right candidate). The role will be adapted to fit the strengths of the successful candidate to complement our staff team.
As an English Teacher, you will work under the direction of the Lead for English and Humanities and the Head Teacher, alongside the SENDCo, delivering the curriculum and providing pastoral support to students. The successful candidate will be experienced across KS3 and KS4, with day-to-day responsibility for delivering the English Curriculum, including pastoral and academic welfare. There is potential for increased responsibility for the right candidate, which can be discussed further at interview.
You will need to be a qualified Teacher with experience of SEND, knowledge of the National Curriculum and the teaching of Key Stage 3 and 4. Students take GCSE English Language at The Levels School. The candidate should be motivated and enthusiastic with strong pedagogical skills, joining a team with high expectations for students to achieve their maximum outcomes. Our students have SpLD broadly in line with dyslexia, ASD and related difficulties.
Enthusiasm is as important as experience, with the ability to inspire as well as teach. You will demonstrate a range of multi-sensory teaching techniques and be prepared to go above and beyond for the young people we support. You should be ambitious for our students, capable of problem solving, and able to work as part of a small team to understand SEND needs and implement strategies to help each student achieve their maximum potential.

The role of English Teacher is offered on a full-time, permanent basis. We are seeking a flexible, adaptable and dedicated individual with experience of working with students with SpLD and some SEMH difficulties as a result of barriers to learning.

Ideal CandidateKey Skills Required
Hold Qualified Teacher Status; substantial experience teaching KS3 and GCSE, delivering teaching at a good or outstanding level; knowledge of SEND, specifically SpLD; knowledge of current education issues related to practice, process and curriculum; ability to work as part of a team focused on students’ learning and wellbeing; experience in working within a SEN setting or with predominantly SEN pupils.
