Teacher Active is currently working with Ofsted-outstanding SEND schools in Birmingham, catering to both primary and secondary pupils. These schools focus on creating inclusive, aspirational, and progressive learning environments. Each student s education program is tailored to their specific needs and detailed within their Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). Lessons are delivered in small groups or one-on-one settings by experienced and dedicated staff.

We are looking for compassionate and driven cover supervisor with a strong background in supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This role requires someone who can engage fully with pupils, build positive relationships, and foster an environment where children can explore, learn, and grow.

The Role:

• Managing Classroom Behavior:
  Ensuring students remain on task, follow instructions, and behave appropriately.

• Delivering Pre-Planned Lessons:
  They often work with lessons prepared by the teacher. The cover supervisor may not be required to teach new content but will ensure students complete the tasks.

• Monitoring Student Progress:
  They ensure that students are completing their work and may give support where necessary, though they are not expected to teach new material or provide extensive individual support.

• Safeguarding:
  They have a duty of care, ensuring students' safety and well-being during the lesson.

• Reporting:
  After the lesson, they may need to report on the behavior and progress of the students and the completion of the lesson.

• Experience as a Cover Supervisor

• Experience working with students with SEND needs or a strong desire to do so.

• The ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.

• A compassionate, patient, and adaptable teaching style.

• Strong behaviour management skills and a commitment to restorative practices.

• A welcoming and supportive team dedicated to making a difference.

• Small class sizes with a focus on individualised learning.

• Ongoing professional development and training in SEND education.
