About the School

Our dynamic and over-subscribed STEM academy is made up of both Aston University Sixth Form, which has over 450 learners following pathways in either academic STEM A levels, or Vocational technical courses in Engineering, Health, Science, or Business. This is complemented by the small Aston University STEM Education Academy Trust (AUSEAT) which has just 81 students per year from Years 9-11.

Currently, both phases share a building on the edge of our Sponsor Aston University.

Due to our success and subsequent growth and expansion by the Secretary of state for Education, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our 100% specialist Mathematics department within our dynamic, diverse, and over-subscribed academy (University Technical College).

Maths is a vital element of our unique UTC STEM curriculum; we work closely with the NCETM and AMSP. We are a centre of Maths within Birmingham hosting events such as Women in Maths, UK MT and Math Feast. We underpin the STEM curriculum and support cross-curricular in Engineering.

This role would suit teachers seeking more flexible arrangements around childcare, phased retirement, or industry / armed forces colleagues wishing to blend teaching alongside other roles.

We are looking for an innovative and creative Mathematician who is passionate about a love of Maths learning and its applications to the real world. Due to the vast majority of our students being Post 16, there is the increased opportunity to teach A Level Maths and Further Maths, Level 3 Mathematical Studies.

As well as our own outstanding facilities, our location next to our sponsor Aston University means that we can access resources, and teaching and learning spaces like no other school. (About Aston University Engineering Academy)

This role will suit an experienced classroom Maths practitioner or Early Careers Teacher who is ready to learn and develop their subject and career in a dedicated and passionate Maths department.
