Location: South & City College Birmingham (post‑holders may be required to work at any College Centre)

We are pleased to recruit 7 full‑time permanent Teaching Assistants across various campuses in Birmingham. The main purpose of this post is to support teaching staff and facilitate students’ learning, helping them to successfully complete their chosen course.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities- Provide in‑class and out‑of‑class support to learners where identified.
- Complete documentation and systems to monitor progress.
- Maintain effective relationships with learners and liaise with tutors and relevant staff to ensure appropriate support.
- Work with tutors to identify individual learning needs and set and review targets within individual support plans.
- Conduct further assessments when necessary.
- Contribute to Personal Education Health and Care Plans.
- Modify teaching materials to meet individual learner needs.
- Make referrals internally for learners’ emerging needs (e.g. careers, welfare).
- Provide feedback to learners and tutors on progress at key stages.
- Attend meetings as required by line manager to ensure efficient communication.
- Assist in recruitment, enrolment, and guidance processes.
- Comply with internal and external quality standards and contribute to strategic aims.
- Adhere to college policies, procedures and health and safety regulations.
- Support safeguarding and promotion of student welfare.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with Data Protection legislation.
- Participate in the appraisal scheme and undertake any required training.
- Support and actively participate in the implementation of Equal Opportunity policies.
- Essential: Qualified to Level 3;
Hold a Teaching Assistant Qualification, minimum Level 2;
Hold Level 2 or above in English (Literacy) and Maths (Numeracy) (e.g. GCSE A‑C or equivalent). - Desirable: Experience supporting learners with learning difficulties/disabilities in a post‑14 educational environment.
