Job Post SummaryWe are now looking to appoint a skilled and experienced Welding Tutor with an engineering background to join our Birmingham team and support the development of the next generation of welding professionals.
Role OverviewAs a Welding Tutor, you will deliver high-quality welding training to learners using our fully equipped workshop facilities. This role combines classroom-based theory with hands‑on practical instruction across a range of welding processes. You'll play a vital role in building learners' technical skills, confidence, and employability, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and update welding training materials and lesson plans in line with industry standards
- Deliver engaging classroom sessions covering welding theory, processes, and safe working practices
- Provide practical demonstrations and one‑to‑one coaching within the welding workshop
- Monitor and assess learner progress through practical assessments, written work, and project‑based tasks
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to support learner development
- Maintain a safe learning environment and enforce health and safety standards at all times
- Ensure welding equipment, tools, and materials are well maintained and fit for purpose
- Mentor and support learners, helping them build skills, confidence, and career readiness
- Stay up to date with industry developments, technologies, and regulatory requirements
- Strong practical welding experience across MIG, TIG, and ARC processes
- Experience working with a range of materials and fabrication techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A strong commitment to health and safety
- A genuine passion for teaching, mentoring, and developing others
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline
- Previous teaching, tutoring, or training experience
- Recognised welding certifications (e.g. AWS, ASME, EAL or equivalent)
