Are you a resilient and committed Behaviour Mentor looking to support young people who face significant barriers to learning? Do you have experience working with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours? This Pupil Referral Unit in South Birmingham is looking to appoint a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their supportive and experienced team.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students both in and out of the classroom, providing 1-2-1 and small group support to help them manage behaviour, regulate emotions and re-engage with education. You will build strong, positive relationships and act as a consistent role model, supporting students to make better choices and achieve positive outcomes. This is a rewarding and hands‑on role that requires patience, resilience and confidence.

Previous experience working with young people with SEMH or SEND needs is essential, ideally as a Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor or Residential Support Worker.

Job Role:

  • Supporting students with challenging behaviour in lessons and around the school
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with young people

  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies
  • Acting as a positive role model to support engagement and progress
  • Monitoring and reporting on behaviour and student development
  • Contributing to a safe, structured and supportive environment
In Return You Will:
  • Work within a supportive and experienced PRU team
  • Gain valuable experience supporting students with SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Be part of a provision focused on re‑engaging young people with education
  • Receive ongoing support and professional development
  • Work in a highly rewarding role where you can make a real difference
  • Be paid a competitive daily rate based on experience
