Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant

Are you a maths graduate looking to gain classroom experience before pursuing teacher training?

Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant
Academic Year: September 2025 to July 2026
Salary: £80 - £100 per day
Location: ‘Outstanding’ secondary school, Ward of Yardley
Focus: KS3 & KS4 maths support across the national curriculum

This is an excellent opportunity for a maths graduate to gain hands-on experience in a high-achieving secondary school. As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students and teachers to support learning and improve attainment in maths.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students across KS3 and KS4 with their understanding of key mathematical concepts
  • Delivering small-group and one-to-one interventions to boost confidence and progress
  • Assisting teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons
  • Helping students prepare for assessments and GCSE maths exams
  • Encouraging problem-solving skills and mathematical reasoning
  • This role is ideal for graduates considering a future in teaching, providing valuable classroom experience and insight into education.

    The school is looking for a driven and enthusiastic graduate with a strong background in maths. You should have:

  • A degree in Mathematics or a related subject
  • A passion for education and supporting students’ academic success
  • Strong numeracy, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to working in a school setting
  • Previous experience in tutoring, mentoring, or working with young people (desirable but not essential)
  • This ‘Outstanding’ secondary school in the Ward of Yardley has a strong focus on academic excellence and student support. The maths department is well-resourced and provides structured guidance for Graduate Teaching Assistants. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience before undertaking teacher training.
