Nursery Teaching Assistant – 1:1 EHCP Support (ASD)-Sparkhill

Aspire People are currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Sparkhill. This is a full‑time role starting in September 2026 and continuing until July 2027, providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child in the Early Years setting with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

The successful candidate will support a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who has low levels of communication, helping them to access learning, develop social and communication skills, and engage positively within the Early Years environment.

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child in the Early Years setting with ASD.
• Support the child to access learning and participate in daily classroom and play‑based activities.
• Use a range of communication strategies and visual supports to encourage engagement and understanding.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCO, and external professionals to implement targets outlined within the EHCP.
• Support the development of communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and independence skills.
• Adapt resources and activities to meet the child's individual needs.
• Build a positive and trusting relationship to help the child feel safe, secure, and ready to learn.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to relevant school staff.

• Previous experience working within an Early Years or primary school setting.
• Experience supporting children with ASD and communication needs.
• Knowledge of strategies such as visual timetables, PECS, Makaton, or other communication approaches would be advantageous.
• A patient, nurturing, and understanding approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to remain calm, flexible, and proactive in supporting the child's needs.
• A genuine passion for helping children with additional needs achieve their full potential.
