Position: Key Stage Pastoral Lead (Non-teaching)

An opportunity has arisen from September 2026 for the role of Key Stage Pastoral Lead (Non-teaching) at KINGS, on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week on a term-time only basis (0.88 FTE). KNGS is an OFSTED outstanding school and is part of the West Midlands Multi Academy Trust with a comprehensive intake and a co-educational sixth form. We are proud of our vibrant, socially and culturally diverse school, which lies in the heart of our community, and is highly regarded in our local area and beyond.

We are seeking a committed, resilient and highly organised Key Stage Pastoral Lead to join our team. This is a pivotal non-teaching role, focused on supporting students’ behaviour, attendance, wellbeing, and overall success. The successful candidate will uphold the school vision of "opening a world of opportunities" for all students and support them in demonstrating respect and courage so that all can flourish.

Working closely with the Head of Key Stage (KS3 or KS4), you will lead the day-to-day pastoral care of students, ensuring school expectations are upheld in line with the School’s Behaviour for Learning Policy and that barriers to learning are quickly identified and addressed. You will manage behaviour incidents, support attendance and punctuality improvement, engage with families, and deliver targeted interventions to support our students to thrive.

The successful candidate will be a strong communicator with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and outside agencies. You will be able to remain calm in challenging situations and consistently maintain high standards. A visible presence across the school and a proactive, solution-focused approach are essential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and delivering daily behaviour management and follow-up.
  • Supporting students to improve their punctuality and attendance.
  • Working with parents/carers to address concerns.
  • Delivering targeted pastoral interventions.
  • Supporting student wellbeing and safeguarding.
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to a consistent pastoral system.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to student outcomes and contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture. Benefits include a pension scheme with a generous employer contribution, an Employee Assistance Programme, and a cycle‑to‑work scheme.

Commitment to Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment Practices: We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds. WMAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Online searches will be conducted as part of the pre-employment checks.

This role is not exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. All shortlisted candidates will be subject to online checks, they will also be asked to complete a criminal records self-disclosure form and successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks at enhanced level, along with other relevant employment checks.

This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act, and therefore the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English will be required.
