We're recruiting for an experienced SEND Teacher to join a specialist Alternative Provision based in the Erdington area. This setting supports children and young people with a range of additional needs, including ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), and EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties). All pupils have an EHCP, and the school is committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and structured learning environment where every child can achieve their full potential.

The school is seeking a qualified teacher with experience delivering a core subject, ideally English or Maths, at secondary level. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of learners, while promoting both academic progress and personal development.

This role would suit a teacher who is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and has experience working with children who have complex needs. The school is also open to candidates who have a background supporting looked-after children or those with experience in childcare settings, provided they can demonstrate strong behaviour management skills and a commitment to inclusive education.

The SEN Teacher Role:
  • Deliver inclusive lessons for pupils with SEND, including ASD, SEMH and challenging behaviours
  • Plan and adapt learning to meet EHCP outcomes and individual needs.
  • Track progress and implement targeted interventions.
  • Create a nurturing, trauma-informed classroom environment.
  • Build positive relationships and support behaviour regulation.
  • Work with TAs, SENCOs, parents and external agencies.
  • Manage support staff to maximise pupil outcomes.
  • Maintain safeguarding, records and contribute to EHCP reviews.
Required Skills and Experience for this SEND Teacher Role:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
  • Experience in roles such as SENCo, SEMH Teacher, SEND Teacher, or Inclusion Coordinator
  • Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including SLD and ASD
  • Experience working in a special school, PRU, Alternative Provision or inclusive mainstream setting
  • Familiarity with strategies for managing behaviour and supporting children with emotional and behavioural challenges
  • A nurturing, empathetic, and flexible teaching style
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding practices
Our Promise To You:

We guarantee a no-pressure approach you’ll only be offered work on the days and in the settings that suit you, allowing you to balance your job with other commitments and enjoy a healthier work‑life balance.

As a thank you for joining Flourish Education, the successful SEN Teacher will receive a £250 welcome bonus*, automatically paid after completing 30 consecutive working days in your placement.

* Bonus applies to this full‑time role only, and terms and conditions apply. You’ll also enjoy a range of additional benefits, including:
  • £168.80 to £232.57 per day, equating to £32,916 to £45,351.15 per annum based on 5 days per week for a full school year

  • Pension contributions
  • Free KCSIE‑compliant Safeguarding and Prevent Duty training, including modules on legislation, FGM, and abuse
