Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our secondary girls’ school. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner to contribute to the academic achievement, personal development, and wellbeing of our students at Hodge Hill Girls’ School. We empower young women to become confident, resilient, and successful learners.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver lessons and learning activities to classes in the absence of teaching staff and as directed by subject leaders.
  • Support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Lead targeted intervention programmes to accelerate student progress and attainment.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to individual students and small groups.
  • Monitor, assess, and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance, and engagement in learning.
  • Support students with additional learning needs to access the curriculum effectively.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities and events.
Qualifications
  • HLTA status or an equivalent qualification and relevant experience.
  • Experience of working successfully with secondary-aged students.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
  • The ability to build positive and productive relationships with young people.
  • A commitment to supporting the achievement and wellbeing of girls and young women.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • High expectations of student achievement, behaviour, and personal development.
