Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Primary School Special School
Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain practical experience supporting children with special educational needs? This welcoming primary special school in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team and provide targeted support to pupils with additional learning needs. This is an ideal role for an aspiring educational or clinical psychologist looking to gain hands-on experience before further training.

Supporting children with special educational needs

The Role
As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the SENCO and classroom teachers to support pupils with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties. You will help deliver 1-2-1 and small group interventions, provide in-class support, and assist in creating a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages progress and emotional wellbeing.

The Candidate
This role is perfect for a Psychology graduate who is empathetic, patient, and committed to helping all children thrive. You should be a strong communicator, able to work collaboratively with staff and build trusting relationships with pupils. Previous experience working with children, particularly in an SEN context, is highly valued but not essential. A genuine interest in pursuing a career in psychology or education is a must.
