Artist Tutor – Ceramics

Midlands Arts Centre in Birmingham is recruiting an artist tutor to teach 12‑week ceramics courses — Coloured Clays, Porcelain and Basic Mould Making — starting in Autumn 2026. The role is full‑time, on‑site, and part of the Learning & Participation programme.

• Deliver tuition for the 12‑week Coloured Clays, Porcelain and Basic Mould Making (CE95 and CE101) courses for adults at beginner/improver level.
• Plan and structure lessons to enable progression of learning and adapt to each participant’s needs.
• Prepare equipment and technical requests in advance, liaise with the Learning Team.
• Teach ceramic techniques and mould making, ensuring courses are delivered as per the course description.
• Reflect on and evaluate the course and delivery quality.
• Work within MAC policies, with emphasis on Safeguarding, Health & Safety, and Equal Opportunities and Diversity.

• Previous experience delivering practical ceramics courses and workshops.
• Education or experience to a suitable level in ceramics, porcelain and mould making.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of people.
• A passion and commitment to the arts, and willingness to further develop skills through training and reflection.
• Understanding of MAC’s key objectives and commitment to the Equal Opportunities and Diversity policy.

• Experience working with adults and children with additional needs or vulnerable adults.
• Knowledge of other creative art forms that could expand the learning offer at MAC.
