Are you a qualified Teacher with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and looking for greater flexibility in your career?
Smile Education is currently recruiting for a Resource Base teacher at a school based in Birmingham (B8). This position is based full time from September 2026 on a Primary Resource Base, assisting pupils with complex learning needs such as ASC. Working alongside aSENDCoand a team of SEND Teaching Assistants to support learners with high needs.
The RoleAs an SEN Teacher, you will:
- Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to individual learning needs
- Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language Needs, and Moderate Learning Difficulties
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual pupils
- Manage behaviour effectively and promote positive outcomes
- Work collaboratively with support staff and other professionals
- Follow school policies and EHCP targets where required
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have recent UK-based teaching experience
- Have experience supporting and teaching children with Special Educational Needs
- Be confident adapting lessons to meet a range of learning needs
- Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
- Be able to work independently and use your own initiative
- Be available to work school hours of 8:15am – 3:30pm
- Provide a minimum of two professional references covering the last two years, including comments on your work with children
- Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new DBS through Smile Education
