Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Career Counselor role based at one of our campuses in Birmingham, Manchester, London or Bradford. The Career Counselor will provide one-to-one and group guidance to students on career pathways, academic progression, and employability options. Responsibilities include conducting career assessments, helping learners develop career plans, and supporting job search activities such as CV/resumé writing, interview preparation, and networking strategies.
The role involves collaborating with academic staff and employer partners to organize career workshops, industry talks and placement opportunities. The Career Counselor will maintain accurate records and monitor student progress and contribute to continuous improvement of career development services in line with institutional goals.
- Strong skills in Career Counseling, Student Counseling, and supporting diverse learners with varying aspirations and backgrounds.
- Proficiency in Career Development and Career Management, including creating individualized career plans and progression routes.
- Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present to groups and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Relevant qualification in Career Guidance, Counseling, Education, Psychology, or a related field; professional certification in career guidance is required.
- Experience in higher or further education settings, knowledge of UK education and labor markets, and familiarity with employability frameworks.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills, with the ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines in a busy campus environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and to supporting learners from a wide range of backgrounds.
