SEN Primary Teacher – Specialist School

Salary: £170 - £240 per day

Smile Education is currently recruiting on behalf of an outstanding specialist primary school in Selly Oak for a dedicated SEN Teacher to join their experienced and highly supportive team. The school caters for pupils aged 5–11 with a range of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), ADHD, speech and language needs, and associated social, emotional and communication difficulties.

This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who thrives in a nurturing environment and enjoys delivering highly personalised learning experiences that enable pupils to develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role

You will be responsible for a small class with excellent adult-to-pupil ratios, allowing you to build meaningful relationships and tailor learning to each child's individual needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

Planning and delivering engaging lessons aligned with individual EHCP targets.
Creating a stimulating classroom environment that promotes confidence and independence.
Working alongside teaching assistants, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists.
Assessing pupil progress and adapting planning to maximise outcomes.
Supporting communication through visual aids, structured routines and differentiated resources.
Promoting positive behaviour using restorative and trauma-informed approaches.
Participating in annual reviews, multidisciplinary meetings and parent consultations.

Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Experience teaching children with SEND within mainstream or specialist settings.
Strong understanding of adaptive teaching and inclusive classroom practice.
Knowledge of EHCP processes and person-centred planning.
Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
