SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Handsworth, Birmingham B19
Daily Rate: 95 - 105
Days: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only), full-time
Start Date: September 1st 2026
Contract: Long-Term temporary, Temp to Perm
Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school in Handsworth for a rewarding 1:1 support role working with two pupils in Year 2 and Year 5 for September 2026.
This role is ideal for someone who is calm, resilient and confident building positive relationships with children who require consistent emotional and behavioural support to succeed in the classroom.
Responsibilities- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for two pupils with SEMH needs.
- Build trusting relationships that promote confidence, emotional regulation and engagement.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and work closely with the class teacher and SENDCO.
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to school staff.
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism, ADHD or additional needs.
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- Experience delivering 1:1 support in a primary or SEN setting.
- A patient, proactive and nurturing approach.
- Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice.
- Long-term, stable work with the potential for a permanent role.
- No day-to-day supply - full-time consistency in one school.
- Trial days instead of formal interviews to ensure the right fit.
