Full-Time | Temp-to-Perm We are recruiting a compassionate and committed Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Birmingham.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex physical disabilities, helping them access a personalised and enriching education.

Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you'll play a vital role in supporting pupils' learning, wellbeing, communication, and independence throughout the school day.
Responsibilities- Provide individual and small-group support for pupils with PMLD and complex physical disabilities
- Assist with personalised learning activities and sensory-based experiences that promote engagement and development
- Deliver personal care with dignity, respect, and professionalism
- Support pupils with mobility needs, including transfers and positioning where appropriate
- Follow individual care plans, therapy programmes, and EHCP targets to ensure consistent support
- Encourage communication, independence, and participation in daily activities
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, healthcare professionals, and support staff to provide a holistic approach to each pupil's development
- Maintain accurate records and report any concerns in line with safeguarding procedures
- Has experience supporting children, young people, or adults with PMLD, complex needs, or physical disabilities
- Is comfortable providing personal care as an essential part of the role
- Holds Manual Handling training or is willing to complete training provided
- Is patient, caring, and adaptable to the individual needs of each pupil
- Understands the importance of delivering person-centred support with dignity and respect
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Is reliable, proactive, and committed to building positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Has previous experience within education, healthcare, residential care, or support work (desirable)
