SEN Primary Teacher – Specialist School
Location: Selly Oak, Birmingham (B29)
Salary: £170 - £240 per day
Contract: Full Time | Ongoing
Smile Education is currently recruiting on behalf of an outstanding specialist primary school in Selly Oak for a dedicated SEN Teacher to join their experienced and highly supportive team. The school caters for pupils aged 5‑11 with a range of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), ADHD, speech and language needs, and associated social, emotional and communication difficulties.
RoleYou will be responsible for a small class with excellent adult‑to‑pupil ratios, allowing you to build meaningful relationships and tailor learning to each child's individual needs.
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons aligned with individual EHCP targets.
- Creating a stimulating classroom environment that promotes confidence and independence.
- Working alongside teaching assistants, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists.
- Assessing pupil progress and adapting planning to maximise outcomes.
- Supporting communication through visual aids, structured routines and differentiated resources.
- Promoting positive behaviour using restorative and trauma‑informed approaches.
- Participating in annual reviews, multidisciplinary meetings and parent consultations.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching children with SEND within mainstream or specialist settings.
- Strong understanding of adaptive teaching and inclusive classroom practice.
- Knowledge of EHCP processes and person‑centred planning.
- Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
