Hours:
Monday Thursday 8:45am 3:00pm

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to ensure every student can access learning in a safe, inclusive, and supportive setting. You ll be hands‑on throughout the college day, championing each learner s progress and well‑being.

Responsibilities
  • Support students with complex learning needs throughout the college day
  • Assist with personal care, toileting, changing, and hygiene with dignity and respect
  • Help students with mobility, positioning, and moving and handling following care plans
  • Work alongside teachers, therapists, and professionals to support learning programmes
  • Encourage communication, independence, and social development using personalised approaches, including AAC where appropriate
  • Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
Skills and Experience
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Health & Social Care, or equivalent
  • Extensive experience supporting children or young people with complex SEND needs
  • Experience providing personal care in an education or care setting
  • Confident supporting students with physical disabilities, communication difficulties, and complex learning needs
  • Caring, patient, and flexible approach
  • Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Available to start in September 2026 and commit to a long-term role

  • Location: Aston, specialist post-16 SEND college
  • Contract: Long-term, starting September 2026
  • Salary: £14.61 per hour
