As our Higher Education provision continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced academic to lead the delivery and continued development of our MSc Computer Science (Business Computing) programme.
About the roleThe Programme Lead will take day-to-day academic ownership of the MSc Computer Science (Business Computing), ensuring that the programme is well organised, academically rigorous and delivered to a consistently high standard.
This is a teaching and academic leadership role combining programme management, curriculum oversight, quality assurance, student support and the coordination of lecturers and dissertation supervisors.
You will ensure that students develop both the technical and commercial understanding needed to use computing effectively within modern organisations. This includes areas such as enterprise systems, business and data analytics, digital transformation, emerging technologies, database management, project delivery and applied research.
Working closely with the Head of School, academic colleagues and our university partner, you will monitor student performance, address delivery risks and ensure the programme continues to meet institutional, regulatory and professional body requirements.
What You'll Be Doing- Lead the academic delivery and day-to-day management of the MSc Computer Science (Business Computing) programme.
- Teach and assess across relevant modules within your area of academic and professional expertise.
- Coordinate lecturers, module leaders and dissertation supervisors to ensure effective and consistent programme delivery.
- Maintain oversight of the programme timetable, teaching resources, assessment schedule and academic calendar.
- Ensure curriculum content remains current and reflects developments in enterprise technology, data analytics, digital transformation and business computing.
- Monitor student attendance, engagement, attainment, continuation, completion and progression, introducing targeted interventions where performance is below expectation.
- Lead programme-level assessment, moderation, marking standardisation and academic integrity processes.
- Oversee the allocation, supervision and academic quality of postgraduate dissertations and applied research projects.
- Support students with complex academic matters, including progression concerns, reassessment, academic conduct and dissertation planning.
- Use student feedback, module evaluation, assessment outcomes and performance data to develop and maintain a clear programme improvement plan.
- Prepare programme reports, action plans and supporting evidence for academic boards, university partner meetings, validation, review and external scrutiny.
- Ensure teaching, assessment and programme documentation meet university regulations, internal quality standards and relevant BCS accreditation requirements.
- Support and develop lecturers through regular communication, peer observation, feedback, mentoring and the sharing of effective teaching practice.
- Build links with employers and technology professionals to strengthen live projects, guest lectures, employability activity and the commercial relevance of the curriculum.
- Contribute to programme recruitment, applicant events, induction, curriculum development and wider academic activity across the School of Computing & IT.
- A postgraduate qualification in Computer Science, Business Computing, Information Systems, Data Analytics or a closely related subject.
- Higher Education teaching experience within computing, information systems or a related discipline.
- Strong subject knowledge across business computing, with expertise in areas such as enterprise systems, data analytics, digital transformation, database technologies or technology management.
