SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Handsworth, Birmingham B20
Daily Rate: £110 - 120
Days: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
Start Date: 01/09/2026
Contract: Long-Term temporary, Temp to Perm
Long Term Futures are looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Handsworth from September.
You’ll work with children who need additional support to access the classroom successfully, including pupils with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs and social or emotional needs. The school is looking for someone who can build strong relationships with children, recognise when a pupil is becoming overwhelmed and use consistent strategies to help them communicate, regulate and re-engage with learning.

In this role, you will:
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group SEN support across the school
  • Helping pupils with ASC, ADHD and communication needs access classroom learning
  • Delivering targeted literacy, communication and social-development interventions
  • Using visual prompts, routines and individual strategies to develop independence
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Following EHCP targets and individual support plans
You’ll need:
  • A Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • Previous experience supporting primary-aged children with SEN
  • Experience with autism, ADHD, SLCN or SEMH is highly desirable
  • Confident supporting emotional regulation and behaviour
