About the Role:

We support a number of specialist education and college settings across Birmingham and have been asked to recruit PFL Tutors for September. You will deliver engaging, personalised Preparation for Life (PFL) sessions to young people aged 16-25, helping learners develop the practical skills, confidence and independence they need for adulthood. You'll work closely with support staff and other professionals to support EHCP outcomes, monitor progress and promote positive learning outcomes.

Learning may include independence, communication, social skills, community access, employability and preparation for adulthood, with sessions delivered on a one-to-one or small-group basis depending on the needs of the learners.

What We’re Looking For:
  • QTS with SEMH classroom experience
  • Proven ability to manage challenging behaviour and support emotional regulation
  • Experience teaching students aged 11-16 with SEND
  • A flexible, resilient approach and a strong commitment to safeguarding
  • Ability to create a nurturing classroom where every student can thrive
Desirable (but not essential):
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in SEND, PFL, education, care, youth work or supporting young people with additional needs
  • Experience working with EHCPs, individual learning plans and personalised outcomes
  • Experience supporting learners with communication needs, personal care requirements, mobility needs, challenging behaviour or emotional regulation
What We Offer:
  • A supportive school environment committed to inclusion
  • Opportunities for ongoing professional development and SEND-specific training
  • Competitive rates of pay (based on experience and qualifications)
  • Flexible work patterns - part-time and full-time roles available
  • Long-term placement with potential for a permanent contract
