Location: Frankley Green, Birmingham, B32

Contract: Long-term/Permanent

Day Rate: £108-£120

Start Date: September 2026

Commutable From: Northfield, Rubery, Rednal, Longbridge, Bartley Green

The Opportunity: Long Term Futures is seeking an outgoing SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Frankley Green from September 2026. This rewarding role will involve providing 1:1 support for Key Stage 1 pupils with Autism (ASD), helping them successfully access learning and re-engage with classroom activities. Working alongside the class teacher, you will play a key role in implementing personalised support strategies that promote confidence, communication and independence.

Your

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for KS1 pupils with Autism (ASD)
  • Support pupils in re-engaging with classroom learning and daily routines
  • Implement personalised strategies linked to EHCP outcomes and individual learning plans
  • Promote communication, emotional regulation, and positive social interactions
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom organisation throughout the day
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support academic and personal development
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO
  • Help create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism (ASD) – essential
  • Experience providing 1:1 support within a primary or specialist educational setting
  • Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning strategies
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Patient, proactive, and resilient approach to supporting children with additional needs
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
