Graduate Science Teaching Assistant – Secondary
Full-Time | Immediate or September start | Birmingham£20,000 - £25,000

A reputable secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Science Teaching Assistant to join its supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate considering a future in education to gain practical classroom experience within a positive and inclusive school environment.

Working alongside the Science department and experienced teaching staff, you will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping to raise attainment, develop confidence, and encourage a genuine interest in Science.

What is the role?
  • Support teaching and learning across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics lessons
  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group support to pupils who would benefit from additional intervention
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation, resources, and classroom activities
  • Help students develop their confidence, independence, and engagement with Science
  • Encourage positive behaviour and participation within the classroom
  • Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong academic background, including a 2:1 or higher degree in a Science-related subject from a leading university
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential)
  • A genuine interest in education and a desire to pursue a career in the sector
  • The ability to work effectively alongside teachers and other school staff
