Teacher Active is proud to be working with a specialist school in Selly Oak supporting pupils aged 2-19 with cognition and communication difficulties and Autism. The school provides a supportive and positive environment where staff use sensory and trauma-informed approaches alongside personalised communication strategies to help pupils develop their skills and independence.

The school is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant on a permanent, term-time-only basis, working 32.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, with other working patterns potentially considered. The successful Teaching Assistant will support pupils with their learning and communication, following individual Positive Behaviour Management Plans, Sensory Differences Profiles, risk assessments and pupil guidance to provide consistent, personalised support.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:
  • A desire to work with pupils with Autism and other diagnosed Special Educational Needs
  • A willingness to develop their knowledge of Autism and SEND
  • The ability to follow behaviour plans, sensory profiles, risk assessments and individual pupil guidance
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A patient, resilient, proactive and flexible approach
