Location: Kitts Green Academy, Birmingham
Daily Rate: £92.56-£105 per day, depending on experience and qualifications
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, long-term

We are working with Kitts Green Academy in Birmingham
, a specialist school supporting boys with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, to recruit a resilient and compassionate Behaviour Support Practitioner
.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with young people, building positive relationships and helping pupils develop the skills they need to succeed.

Kitts Green Academy is a specialist setting supporting boys with complex SEMH needs, with some pupils also presenting with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and ADHD.

As a Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will work alongside teachers, pastoral staff and the wider school team to support pupils who may experience difficulties with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement in learning.

The role is hands‑on and relationship focused. You will help pupils manage challenging situations, encourage positive choices and develop strategies that support their progress both inside and outside the classroom.

• Provide direct behaviour and pastoral support to pupils.
• Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with young people.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and self-management.
• Help pupils identify triggers and develop positive coping strategies.
• Reinforce clear, consistent boundaries and expectations.
• Support pupils to re‑engage with learning following challenging incidents.
• Respond calmly and appropriately to incidents of challenging behaviour.
• Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to implement support strategies.
• Encourage positive behaviour, communication and social skills.
• Support individual pupils and small groups where required.
• Promote a safe, structured and inclusive environment.
• Record and communicate relevant information in line with school procedures.
• Contribute to a consistent approach to behaviour across the school.

• Patient, empathetic and consistent.
• Comfortable managing challenging behaviour.
