Are you an experienced carpenter or joiner looking to step off the tools and pass your skills on to the next generation of tradespeople?

About the Role

You’ll join a further education provider in the West Midlands, teaching carpentry and joinery to learners working towards industry‑recognised qualifications. You’ll deliver both practical workshop sessions and classroom theory, bringing your own trade experience into the learning environment.

You’ll support learners of varying levels and prepare them for employment, apprenticeships and further study.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching carpentry and joinery programmes from entry level through to Level 3.
  • Delivering engaging classroom lessons and practical workshop sessions.
  • Developing learning resources and assessing learner progress.
  • Ensuring workshop safety and adherence to trade standards.
  • Preparing learners for employment, apprenticeships and further study.
What We’re Looking For
  • A Level 3 qualification (or higher) in carpentry and joinery or a related construction discipline
  • Significant industry experience within carpentry and joinery
  • Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and mathematics
  • A genuine interest in developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople
Desirable (but not essential):
  • A recognised teaching qualification such as Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS or CET
  • Previous experience teaching within further education
Shape the next generation of craftspeople

If you’re ready to pass on your trade and help learners build their careers, we’d love to hear from you.

A real person, not an automated email. If we are not the right fit for you we will say so quickly rather than leave you waiting.

  • Level 3 qualification (or higher) in carpentry and joinery or related construction discipline
  • Significant industry experience within carpentry and joinery
  • Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and mathematics
