- Differentiate learning activities to support varying academic abilities and learning needs.
- Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement, trust, and progress.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
- Support students in developing emotional regulation, social skills, confidence, and resilience.
- Create and maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching approaches where necessary.
- Work towards EHCP outcomes and contribute to annual reviews.
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, parents, and external professionals.
- Maintain accurate records, assessments, behaviour logs, and reports as required by the school.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching within a SEND, SEMH, Alternative Provision, PRU, or secondary school setting.
- Strong understanding of SEMH needs, trauma-informed practice, and behaviour management strategies.
- Experience supporting students who may display challenging behaviour.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient in demanding situations.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of EHCPs and person-centred planning.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Competitive daily pay rates of £150 - £180 per day.
- Free CPD and online training, including Level 2 Safeguarding.
- Ongoing support from a dedicated local Axcis consultant.
- Opportunities for long-term, permanent, and career-development roles.
- Experience working within an established specialist SEMH secondary school.
