About this jobWe are hiring Full Time METER READERS in your postcode now. Role:
Meter Reader (gas and electricity only)
- Retrieve data from domestic, commercial, and industrial sites for gas and electric meters.
- Carry out visual inspections of associated metering equipment and charge point surveys.
- Enter meter reads accurately throughout the day on handheld devices.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional approach in an independent role.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines at all times.
Training is 1 week, both classroom- and field-based with an experienced meter reader.
Qualifications- UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
- Physically fit, able to bend in tight spaces, lift, kneel, climb stairs, crouch, and walk an average 3‑5 miles a day.
- Happy to work in all weather conditions.
- Clear DBS check (no unspent convictions).
- Previous customer service experience (preferred, not essential).
- Access to own vehicle.
- Basic business insurance.
- £13.45 to £14.00 per hour basic pay (weekly payment).
- Weekly hours: 37.5 hours a week with flexible start and finish times Monday to Friday 8am‑8pm.
- £27,000 to £31,000 average annual earnings.
- Progression and promotion opportunities for higher earnings (360 technical Meter Reader, Auditor, Gas & Electric Engineer, Field Assistant Manager, Field Manager).
- Weekly bonus scheme with earnings up to £250 per week.
- Overtime rates at manager's discretion.
- Business expenses reimbursed pence per mile.

- Up to 28 days holiday per year.
- Full uniform and PPE provided.
- Full training provided.
- Double pay on bank holidays.
- No previous experience required.
