Overview
HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity: Health and Safety Engagement Specialist
Location: Fort Dunlop – this location sits on the eastern edge of Birmingham, adjacent to the M6 motorway, providing excellent transport links into the city and across the region. Fort Dunlop serves as a key hub within IPT Area North, supporting operations that span multiple sublots and regional activities. Its strategic position makes it an important point for coordination and access, with proximity to major infrastructure routes ensuring connectivity to both the Central Region and wider project areas.
Responsibilities- Promote and encourage observation reporting and proactive safety interventions to protect the workforce and the public.
- Support the H&S Engagement Manager by communicating with and gathering feedback from the supply chain, Labour Desk, and HS2 client on BBV safety performance and initiatives.
- Assist in delivering and analysing climate surveys to identify opportunities for improved safety performance and engagement.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of behavioural, engagement, training programmes, and Safety Segments within the Project Induction process.
- Review Risk Assessments, Method Statements, policies, and procedures to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with BBV standards.
- Minimum of three years’ recent experience in a health, safety, behavioural safety, or engagement-focused role, supported by a NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent).
- Proactive, professional approach with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, including confident verbal delivery, clear written communication, and effective presentation to diverse audiences.
- Strong IT and analytical capability, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI (or similar), with experience collecting, interpreting, and reporting health and safety data and trends.
- Able to work independently with initiative, while also being a proven team player who collaborates effectively and contributes to continuous improvement.
