We are looking for a Regulated Water Civil Engineering apprentice to join our Birmingham office. You will work towards achieving a UK Level 6 qualification at the University of Wolverhampton.

Opportunity Overview

Jacobs has secured multi‑year contracts and projects with leading clients in the water sector throughout the UK and Ireland. You will join a team of over 1000 water professionals, working on high‑profile projects such as water/wastewater networks, treatment, asset management, network modelling and programme management. You will work within a multi‑disciplinary structure, delivering technical excellence for agreed time‑frames and budgets.

Responsibilities
  • Design of water treatment plants, pumping stations and distribution networks to supply drinking water.
  • Design of wastewater treatment plants and drainage network assets to improve river quality.
  • Design of pressure and gravity pipelines.
  • Design of site layouts in a range of markets, including water, data centres and energy & power.
  • Preparation of feasibility studies for new water and wastewater assets, including the regional transfer of water across the UK within the RAPID SRO programme.

Qualifications and Experience
  • At least 120 UCAS tariff points, including a Grade B in A‑level Mathematics or equivalent.
  • A keen interest in civil engineering and regulated water management.
  • Strong communication and team‑working skills.
  • A flexible and proactive self‑starter, passionate about developing new skills.
  • Ability to adapt and prioritise while juggling work and study.
  • Enthusiasm and curiosity to apply your skills to real‑world problems.
  • Empathy and listening skills to understand client requirements.
  • A well‑rounded person with diverse interests or experience (e.g., sports, volunteering).
  • Permanent right to work in the UK.
