Job Description

We are seeking a Senior / Contaminated Land Geo‑environmental Consultant to support contaminated land assessment and remediation projects across UK offices (Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle upon Tyne, Nottingham, London, Basingstoke, Bristol, Glasgow). The role offers flexibility, hybrid work and excellent development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project and task management
  • Management of site investigations
  • Supervision of field work (soil logging, environmental sampling, chemical and geotechnical testing, groundwater sampling, ground gas monitoring)
  • Data collation, review and interpretation
  • Preparation and review of technical reports (desk studies, ground investigation reports, remediation options appraisals and verification reports)
  • Site investigation design
  • Development of client relationships
  • Ensuring work meets procedures, safety, health and environmental standards
  • Support to early career professionals
Experience
  • Knowledge of planning, design and management of site investigations
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations and safe design of site investigations
  • Knowledge of UK land contamination regime and risk‑based assessment
  • Report writing and presentation of complex technical information
  • Data handling and GIS experience desirable
  • Knowledge of regulatory regimes: TCPA, DCO, environmental permitting, due diligence, nuclear site end states, GRR, environmental impact assessment
  • Specialist technical areas: quantitative risk assessment, waste/material management, radiological characterisation, hydrogeology, remediation
Qualifications
  • Relevant technical degree (chemistry, biology, geology, engineering, environmental science)
  • Working towards or being prepared to work towards Chartered/Professional Qualification (e.g. QP)
  • Willingness to travel
