We are seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Design Engineer to join an established and respected fire protection company. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a technical environment, enjoys working autonomously, and takes pride in delivering precise, compliant, and well-coordinated sprinkler system designs.
As a Sprinkler Design Engineer, you will collaborate closely with the project team, ensure accurate and timely technical submissions, and provide support and mentorship to junior designers. You will play a key part in ensuring all sprinkler system designs meet current industry standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Design a variety of automatic sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre‑action, and deluge systems
- Perform hydraulic calculations using Canute and manual methods
- Coordinate sprinkler layouts with the building structure, MEP services, and project constraints
- Attend onsite and online client‑driven design coordination meetings
- Conduct site surveys to ensure designs align with actual conditions and existing services
- Prepare and submit 2D drawings for approval, construction, and as‑built phases
- Ensure all designs comply with company design standards and BIM requirements
- Provide daily support and mentorship to Trainee Designers
- Assist installation teams with design‑related queries and challenges
- Contribute to RFIs and help prepare relevant project documentation
- Strong working knowledge of LPCB, NFPA, BSEN 9990, BSEN 9251, BSEN 12845
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the fire suppression industry
- LPCB Basic, Intermediate, or FHC certification (preferred)
- High proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic design software (Canute/FHC)
- Confident and clear communicator, able to present technical information effectively
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to manage workload independently with minimal supervision
- Full UK driving licence
