M&E Engineer

Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) is expanding its South region MEP design team and seeks a focused and reliable Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of mechanical building services design. This role involves contributing to a wide variety of projects, working closely with senior engineers, multidisciplinary colleagues and clients to deliver robust, coordinated and compliant design solutions.

• Undertake mechanical engineering design for building services projects, including heating, ventilation, cooling, and domestic water systems.
• Prepare and check calculations, drawings and specifications for concept, developed and technical design stages.
• Coordinate mechanical services with other disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, sustainability).
• Work closely with project leads and senior engineers to ensure technical compliance and quality assurance.
• Support the development of design packages for tender and construction, including responding to contractor queries.
• Contribute to internal technical reviews and team knowledge sharing.
• Use tools such as IES, AutoCAD, and Revit to develop coordinated and accurate design outputs.

The ideal candidate will deliver customer service excellence, demonstrate a proactive approach, and possess the following:

• Demonstrable experience in delivering mechanical designs within a consultancy or design‑and‑build environment.
• Strong technical skills and familiarity with design tools (e.g. IES, Revit, AutoCAD).
• Good understanding of UK Building Regulations, CIBSE guides, and industry standards.
• Organised, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple deadlines.
• A collaborative approach and willingness to learn from experienced team members.

• Degree‑qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• Ideally working towards professional registration (CIBSE or IMechE).

• Track record in a similar role.
• Project design responsibility from feasibility through to detailed design and construction.
• Use of relevant MS and design software.
