My client is a well-established manufacturing business based in Birmingham, supplying high-quality, design-led products to the luxury interiors and architectural hardware market. With a strong heritage in precision engineering and craftsmanship, the company works closely with designers, architects, and developers on premium projects in the UK and internationally.

The Role

We are looking to recruit a Junior Technical CAD / Product Development Engineer to join a growing engineering and product development team. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer or graduate looking to develop hands‑on experience within a manufacturing environment.

You will work closely with senior engineers and the production team, supporting the design and development of products while gaining exposure to real‑world manufacturing processes. Experience or exposure to shop‑floor machining and Autodesk Inventor would be highly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and development of products using CAD software, primarily Autodesk Inventor
  • Produce accurate technical drawings and manufacturing documentation
  • Check and update technical drawings as required
  • Support production and manufacturing teams with technical information
  • Work collaboratively with engineering and production colleagues to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
  • Ensure all technical work meets company quality standards
Essential Requirements
  • Proficiency or strong working knowledge of CAD software
  • Basic understanding of metals and machining processes
  • Awareness of GD&T principles
  • Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving ability
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
  • A positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn
Desirable (but Not Essential)
  • Experience using Autodesk Inventor and/or Autodesk Vault
  • Exposure to shop‑floor machining or manufacturing environments
  • Experience with in door, cabinet, or architectural hardware design
  • Degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience creating BOMs and technical documentation
