Your impactAs a core member of our Bridges and Structures team, you’ll play a major role in driving our shift toward smarter, solution‑led delivery—using cutting‑edge technology, digital tools, and lean ways of working to boost efficiency and create real value for our clients. You’ll bring your technical expertise, people skills, and organisational know‑how to help deliver sustainable, low‑carbon bridges and structures across highways, rail, aviation, energy and power projects.
Thanks to continued growth in our Local Government portfolio, we’re excited to offer a new opportunity supporting one of our key Clients in Worcestershire. This part‑time role (2–3 days per week, depending on project needs) is based locally, working closely with the Client and their on‑site team. You’ll also stay fully connected to our wider Bridges and Structures network in Birmingham or Bristol, giving you the best of both worlds local impact with regional support.
Our Bridges and Structures capability sits within Jacobs’ wider Transportation business, where we take pride in delivering technically complex schemes both in the UK and internationally. Our team has built a strong reputation through a portfolio of high‑profile projects with clients including High Speed 2, National Highways, Network Rail, Welsh Government, National Contractors & Local Authorities.
Key deliverables- Have overall responsibility for performance and delivery of this contract.
- Lead and mentor teams in structural analysis, feasibility studies, tender and detailed designs, and the production of contract documents and technical reports.
- Provide overall technical leadership to the wider project team, giving day‑to‑day advice and guidance to those delivering all elements of this contract.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to deliver integrated services and high‑quality sustainable outcomes for clients.
- Collaborate with our UK and Ireland, and Global Integrated Delivery teams to optimise resources and ensure successful project delivery.
- Work collaboratively with the Client on the technical delivery, programming of works and delivery of sensitive projects.
- Manage the relationship with the Term Maintenance Contractor and the Infrastructure Engineering Term Contractor.
- Work with the wider Operational Management team to ensure we are meeting the quality delivery required for the contract.
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or a related discipline).
- A professional qualification ICE/IStruct
E Chartered or equivalent. - Project and/or discipline management and leadership skills related to bridge design (or other disciplines).
- Strong technical design and practical problem‑solving skills.
