Senior / Principal Transport Planner – Team Lead

Are you ready to take the lead on high-impact transport projects across the UK?

Due to continued growth, we’re looking for a Senior or Principal Transport Planner to join a multi discipline consultants expanding Birmingham team. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role where you'll work on diverse and complex projects, helping to shape sustainable, effective transport solutions nationwide.

The Role

As a key member of our transport planning team, you will:

Lead the development and delivery of complex transport planning projects
Manage project inputs from site acquisition through to planning application and discharge of conditions
Oversee Transport Assessments, Statements, Travel Plans, and strategies for residential, retail, education, and mixed-use schemes
Provide expert advice to clients, ensuring their objectives are understood and delivered with precision
Support and mentor junior staff, helping to develop team capability and cohesion
Contribute to business growth through high-quality consultancy and project management

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running with strong technical and commercial acumen. You should have:

Proven experience delivering transport planning projects in a consultancy setting
In-depth knowledge of NPPF, Section 278 and 106 agreements, and sustainable transport solutions
Proficiency in TRICS, PICADY, ARCADY, and a working knowledge of LINSIG

Experience with junction design (signalised, roundabouts) and transport modelling methods
A proactive, solution-focused approach and confidence in client-facing roles
